Sulaymaniyah- A condolences tent for Nagihan Akarsel, member of Jineology Academy and editor of Jineology magazine who was killed on October 4, has been set up in the Bextiyari neighborhood of Sulaymaniyah.

Members of women’s organizations and many people have visited the tent to express their condolences to Nagihan’s family and relatives. A photograph of Nagihan Akarsel has been put in front of the tent and the people visiting the tent leave flowers under the photograph.

Tara Hisên, Co-chair of Tevgera Azadi (Freedom Movement) made a speech during her visit to the tent. In her speech, she drew attention to the killing of women, emphasizing the importance of solidarity.

In her speech, Necibe Qeredaxî, member of Jineology Academy, drew attention to the rise in femicide cases in the Kurdistan Region and the killing of their colleague Nagihan Akarsel. “The attack on our colleague Nagihan was an attack carried out against all women. This attack will remain in the history of Southern Kurdistan as a black mark,” she said.
