Manbij- Hevrin Khalaf, the Secretary General of the Future Syria Party, was executed by Turkish-backed factions near the M4 Motorway south of Tell Abyad on October 12, 2019. On the anniversary of her murder, the Future Syria Party held a painting exhibition to commemorate her. At the exhibition, the paintings of Hevrin Khalaf and many pioneering women were displayed. The women of Manbij, who visited the exhibition, emphasized that the will of women following the path of Hevrin Khalaf cannot be broken. In addition, many women made speeches at the exhibition and said that they follow the struggle of Hevrin Khalaf.

“The plan of invaders failed”

Şemsa Berkal, member of the Future Syria Party and Education Committee of Rojava, also visited the exhibition. “The struggle of Hevrin did not end after her death. Since her death, hundreds of women fighters have maintained her struggle. The Turkish state aimed to break the will of women in North and East Syria by targeting Hevrin; however, the plan of invaders failed. The Turkish state always targets women but we will not allow it to break our will. Hundreds of women are ready to follow the path of Hevrin and sacrifice their lives for the women's struggle,” she said in her speech.

“We are all Hevrin”

Werde Mihemed, member of the Women’s Bureau of the Religious Assembly, stated that they, as North and East Syrian women, regret the murder of Hevrin Khalaf. “After Hevri Khalaf's martyrdom, our will to follow in her footsteps became stronger. We are all Hevrin and we will continue to follow her path.”
