Women to take to the streets on March 8
On March 8, women will take to the streets to raise their voice against the increasing violence against women and poverty in Turkey.
News Center- Women all around the world are getting ready to take to the streets on March 8. Women in Turkey have begun to determine the meeting points.
The Platform for March 8 has announced on its social media account that they will gather in front of Beşiktaş Pier in Istanbul’s Kadıköy district on March 5, Friday, at 18:00. The platform calls on women and says, “We will come together on March 5 in Kadıköy against male-state violence and poverty increasing due to the pandemic.
Women’s Assemblies also announce that they will gather on the same day in front of Beşiktaş Pier in Kadıköy at 18:30. We Will Stop Femicide Secretary-General Fidan Ataselim also posted a tweet and she wrote, “Students and women will never walk alone. We will defeat both trustee (the appointed rector to Boğaziçi University) and male domination.”
Meanwhile, all protests and demonstrations have been banned in Denizli province for a month, just before March 8, International Women's Day. Women reacted to the ban and said, “We will organize against bans.”
