HDP Women’s Council kicks off “Justice for Women” campaign
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council kicked off its campaign called, “Justice for Women” despite the police blockade and barriers. Many women members of the council participated in the press statement. “Let’s shout out our revolt against injustice and turn it into an organized resistance. We will change this male-dominated system with women's will and solidarity. We will win,” said Ayşe Acar Başaran.
News Center- Members of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council came together today at Kuğulu Park with the participation of HDP female MPs to kick off the campaign called, “Justice for Women”. But police didn’t allow women to read the press statement for pandemic reasons. Police didn’t allow journalists to cover the press statement. After talking to the police, only MPs were allowed to read the press statement. HDP Women’s Council Spokesperson Ayşe Acar Başaran made a short speech and emphasized that police blockage cannot prevent women.
“We gather here to kick off our campaign, “Justice for Women” against ongoing injustice. We crave for justice in this country. The AKP and MHP have been trying to leave society out of breath for years, but particularly for the last five years, and unfortunately, women are the most affected. While women are isolated from every aspect of life and killed there is no blockade you see here, there is no security, but women’s scream for justice does not bow to the blockade. We are going to kick off our party’s campaign. We will be in the parliament; we will take to the streets.”
Women shouted slogans such as, “Jin jiyan azadî” (Women, Life, Freedom), “We don’t silence, we don’t fear, we don’t bow down” and gathered in front of the building of the HDP Headquarters. Ayşe Acar Başaran read the press statement and kicked off the campaign, “Justice for Women”.
