Evin Prisoners Support Protests and Affirm Their Stand with the People
Political prisoners in Evin Prison state the Iranian regime, aware of its imminent end, continues to suppress public demands while prioritizing its own survival.
News Center – The wave of widespread protests continues for over a week now in many Iranian cities and East Kurdistan, escalating day by day amid increasing popular participation that reflects the depth of public anger and the expanding rejection of the current regime.
A group of political prisoners in Evin Prison issued a statement supporting the popular protests that erupted in Iran, stating: "For over 120 years, the Iranian people have struggled with indescribable determination and will to achieve freedom and justice, paying a heavy price in historical events and pivotal moments. Whenever our people came close to tasting freedom and justice, the opponents of freedom and the forces of colonialism and despotism, in collaboration with the Shah and the Sheikh, stood in the way, preventing the movement from achieving victory and rescuing political prisoners. The shameful coup of 1992 and the stolen revolution of 1998 are prominent examples of these historical events."
The statement pointed out that "over 47 years, the religious fascism ruling Iran, through its inhumane policies and its history of plunder and theft, has brought our people's lives to a state where they are deprived of the most basic elements of a dignified life. Poverty, corruption, rising prices, rampant inflation, water and electricity crises, unemployment, and more are all factors that have deprived the people of their right to life. All of this is a result of plundering the country's wealth and resources to export terrorism, proxy wars, anti-patriotic nuclear and missile projects, and others."
The statement emphasized that the inhumane nature of the Iranian regime is based on two main pillars: internal repression and the export of war and terrorism. "From the beginning, the regime has persistently suppressed the people's demands, thinking only of its own survival, but it is fully aware that its downfall is imminent because the people have decided to overthrow it," pointing to attempts by some groups, such as reformists and monarchists, to exploit the protests and change their course.
The prisoners affirmed in their statement their stand with the people until the end, praising their determination and struggle: "The people, who overthrew the Shah's regime in 1979, are also capable of overthrowing the current regime," which they described as inhumane.
