News Center — The Ranya district, part of the Raparin administration in the Kurdistan Region, witnessed a tragic murder on the evening of Wednesday, July 15, when a woman was shot by her brother, resulting in her immediate death.

According to Raparin police, and citing the victim's family, an argument broke out between the woman and one of her brothers before escalating into a confrontation that ended with her being shot, leaving her dead at the scene.

This incident comes at a time when cases of violence against women are on the rise in the Kurdistan Region, accompanied by appeals to hold perpetrators accountable.
