News Center- The European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) has released a statement on Wednesday, announcing that they will hold demonstrations and activities in Europe on May 3 to demand freedom for Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan with the motto, “Dialogues with Free Life” as part of the international campaign, demanding “freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question”.

“We have been witnessing historic developments in Kurdistan and the Middle East,” the statement said. “The ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’ made by leader Apo on February 27 has received great support from the Kurdish people and the international community, raising hopes for peace.”

Pointing to the 52-year struggle of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, the statement added, “Everyone knows that the physical freedom of leader Apo must be ensured and a political solution to the Kurdish question must be achieved. Building a free, common and equal life based on women’s freedom is the only option for the democratization of Türkiye and the Middle East.”

The struggle of Kurdish women and Kurdish people have razed the 100-year-old policy of denial and destruction to the ground, the movement stressed in the statement. “Kurdish women and Kurdish people have shown the whole world that nothing will ever be the same again. The only way for us, Kurdish women and everyone standing by human rights, is to struggle more against fascism and pave the way to victory. Today is the day to mobilize for the freedom of leader Apo and achieve the success that millions of people chanting the ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’ slogan deserve. We announce once again that we will continue to support the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question’ campaign launched on October 10 (2023).”

In the statement, the movement called on all people, especially women, to participate in the demonstrations and activities to be held in Europe on May 3, 2025.
