Parivash Moslemi starts hunger strike in Evin prison

Parivash Moslemi, a political activist imprisoned in Evin prison, has started a hunger strike to protest the denial of urgent medical care.

News Center- Parivash Moslemi, a political activist imprisoned in Iran’s Evin prison, has started a hunger strike to protest the prison conditions, the denial of urgent medical care.

 Despite her deteriorating physical condition, she has been denied access to urgent medical care. She has been denied access to treatment outside of the prison. Although she has requested her medical leave many times to receive treatment outside of the prison, her requests have been denied by the Evin Prison authorities.

On August 20, 2024, Parivash Moslemi was sentenced to three years and six months in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion”, “insulting the Supreme Leader,” and “propaganda against the regime.”

Parivash Moslemi was arrested on July 7, 2024 after going to the Evin Prosecutor’s Office and was transferred to the women’s ward of Evin Prison.

She was previously arrested by security forces in September 2023, coinciding with the anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death. She was released on bail from Qarchak Prison in Varamin after a month in prison.
