Singer Gülcan Altan is from the Shapsugh tribe of Circassians. She was born in Samatya as the youngest daughter of a Circassian family. She performed as a soloist for many orchestras. While studying business at Trakya University, she started singing professionally. After graduating from the Turkish Music State Conservatory of Istanbul Technical University in 2005, she completed her Master′s degree at Yeditepe University.
