The World Peace Day is celebrated in Turkey on September 1 by the people demanding wars and conflicts to be ended. They annually hold events, protests, and activities to demand peace. However, Turkey insists on wars inside and outside its borders.
It takes steps to start a war
States that make benefits from wars and arms increase their military budgets at every opportunity and force countries to take up arms. The imperialist countries that sell the most arms increase their arms sales by fueling and causing chaos. The countries such as India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey are among the countries that have purchased the most weapons in recent years to prepare for a “regional war”. Turkey’s cross-border operations show that it takes steps to start a war.
Arms sales rise
According to 2015-2019 data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Turkey enhanced its arms supply by 145% in five years, 2013-2017, and it enhanced its arms supply by 86% between 2015 and 2019 compared to the previous five-year period. Turkey ranked 14th among countries that enhanced their arms supply between 2015 and 2019.
The Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) prepares the Global Peace Index (GPI) which ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their level of peacefulness. According to the Global Peace Index 2019, Turkey ranked amongst the 50 least peaceful countries and Europe remained the most peaceful region in the world. The greatest increase in peacefulness occurred in the Russia and Eurasia region, followed by the Middle East and North Africa, according to the GPI.
