Manbij- The Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions keep attacking North and East Syria, especially targeting women, by using many ways and methods. Sovereign powers have used the women’s body as a tool to achieve their goals from past to the present,” said Azima Deniz, one of the executives of the People's Assembly of North and East Syria, speaking about the attacks of the Turkish state, in cooperation with the KDP, on pioneering women both in North and East Syria and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

“Following the building of the caste system, women were stripped of their essence, subjected to gender discrimination, and seen as a commodity,” said Azima Deniz, stressing that sovereign powers keep implementing this system to attack women. Azima Deniz also mentioned the analysis of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on women. “Leader Apo says that a country cannot be free unless the women are free. The Turkish state has carried out its occupational policies not only in North and East Syria but also in four parts of Kurdistan. Today, even Iran uses the methods of the Turkish state. Therefore, women should be aware of the policies of the male-dominated system. An honorable life is not measured by individuals, but by their bond to their country, history, culture, and ethical values.”

‘Women leave their mark on history by struggling’

Sovereign powers do not want women to be free because they do not want their societies to be developed, Azima Deniz stressed. “The sovereign powers use different methods to distract women from their history and culture. Abdullah Öcalan is the only leader who values women and wants the ‘Jin, jiyan, azadî’ philosophy to come to life. In North and East Syria, women mobilize with the ‘Jin, jiyan, azadî’ philosophy and leave their mark on history by struggling. The sovereign powers use all kinds of methods to prevent this philosophy from coming to life.”

“Women must be determined to resist’

Women resist the ongoing Turkish attacks, Azima Deniz indicated and concluded her speech, saying, “Women must be determined to resist and not accept being commodified. Women must stand against all kinds of occupations and keep struggling.”
