TJK-E: We stand with Sharifeh Mohammadi
“We stand with Sharifeh Mohammadi,” the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) said in a statement on Thursday, condemning the upholding of Sharifeh Mohammadi’s death sentence.

News Center- The European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) released a written statement on Thursday, condemning the upholding of labor activist Sharifeh Mohammadi’s death sentence.
“Following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by the morality police on September 16, 2022, protests led by Kurdish women took place against the mullah regime in Iran,” the statement said. “The ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’ slogan chanted by women has become a universal slogan, as a symbol of women’s resistance, their stance against the regime, and their will.”
Defining the death sentence handed down to Sharifeh Mohammadi as a revenge by the Islamic regime against women, the TJK-E said, “The Iranian regime uses the judicial system as a tool of fear and oppression to silence people.”
Sharifeh Mohammadi was arrested from her home in Rasht by agents of the IRGC's intelligence on December 5,2023. On July 4, 2024, she was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in Rasht on charges of “armed rebellion against the state”. On October 12, 2024, the Supreme Court overturned the verdict, citing numerous issues, including the lack of evidence linking her to any armed operations, the failure to prove membership in armed groups, and serious flaws in the intelligence service’s report. However, Branch 39 of Iran’s Supreme Court once again upheld the death sentence handed down to the activist on August 16, 2025.
“The charges against Sharifeh Mohammadi for her activism show that the judiciary is instrumentalized by a male-dominated mindset,” the TJK-E emphasized in the statement.
“We condemn the upholding of Sharifeh Mohammadi’s death sentence and call on international organizations to put pressure on Iranian authorities to revoke the death sentence. We are the voice of oppressed women all around the world and we stand with Sharifeh Mohammadi. The freedom of Sharifeh Mohammadi is the freedom of all women. We call on all women to raise their voice against the death sentence handed down to Sharifeh Mohammadi.”
