Sudanese Women's Net Documents Suffering, Demands Inclusion in Peace Process

The Sudanese Women's Network calls for improving women'[s conditions and including them in peace processes, as conflict in South Kordofan and the Nuba Mountains worsens the humanitarian crisis.

Sudan_The conflict in Sudan has left wide-ranging impacts on women, as field realities reveal escalating violations, deteriorating basic services,and expanding displacement, highlighting the fragility of their conditions and the necessity of strengthening protection and humanitarian response.

The Sudanese Women's Network presented a paper titled "Women in the Fouth Year of War: Between the Weight of suffering and Paths of Resilience in South Kordofan/Nuba Mountains,"published on its platform yesterday, Wednesday, August 19, calling for improving women's conditions and including them in the political process and peace processes.

The paper discussed three main axes: " Humanitarian, Political, and Economic Conditions," "The Roosts of War in the Region and the Currnt Humanitarian Reality, "in addition to "Challenges Facing Humannitarian Work and The Prospects for a Ceasefire,"as a pathway to alleviating civillian suffering.The Berlin Conference also featured direct and recorded testimonies of women survivors from conflict zones, reflecting the scale of suffering and forms of resilience.

The paper concluded with several recommendations, most notably appealing to the regional and international community to pressure the conflict parties to agree to an urgent and unconditional humanitarian ceasefire that would pave the way for a permanent cessation of hostilities and the launch of a political process addressingn the roots of the Sudanese, crisis, given the tragic conditions in South Kordofan/Nuba Mountains, which have readhed the level of famine.

The paper aimed to shed light on the conditions of women in South Kordofan and the Nuba Mountains during the fourth year of ongoing coflict and its resulting humanitarian, political, economic,and social impacts, as well as to analyze the challenges facing women in conflict zones,and highlight their roles in resilience and community respose.

The presentaion addressed the humanhitarian reality in South Kordofan, the challenges facing humanitarian work and the prostects for a ceasefire, along with documenting the voices of women survivors and highlighting their experiences as an essential element in peacebuilding and achieving justice,while offering practical recommednations to enhance women's participation, improve humanitarian response, and support feminist initiatives.

The humanitarian situation in South Kordofan is among the worst in Sudan due to the ongoing conflict,blockade, collapse of basic services, and limited humanitarian access.

The state has witnessed continuous clashes that have displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians, exacerbating the suffering of women and children in particular.
