Maryam Sadat Yahyavi released from Evin prison

Maryam Sadat Yahyavi, a political activist, was released from Evin prison on Sunday after serving a one-year prison sentence. Upon her release, she stood in front of the prison holding a banner reading, “No to Execution”.

News Center- Maryam Sadat Yahyavi, a political activist and political prisoner, was released from Evin prison on Sunday after serving a one-year prison sentence. Upon her release, she stood in front of the Evin prison, holding a banner reading, “No to Execution” to protest the death penalty in Iran.

She demanded the revocation of the death sentences handed down to Pakhshan Azizi and Verisheh (Warisha) Moradi.

On November 2, 2014, Maryam Sadat Yahyavi was arrested at her home by Iranian security forces. After 17 days of detention in Evin Prison, she was released on bail. The Revolutionary Court of Tehran sentenced her to nine years in prison on charges such as “spreading propaganda against the regime” and “assembly and collusion against national security”. Then, her prison sentence was reduced to one year following an appeal.

On March 3, 2024, she was transferred to Evin Prison to serve her prison sentence.
