Leader Öcalan: External interventions threaten the democratic path in Turkey.
“During his meeting with the delegation of the Equality and Peoples’ Democracy Party (DEM) in Imrali, Leader Öcalan affirmed that external interventions and political violence obstruct the democratic process and resemble a coup mechanism.
News Center — Leader Öcalan has consistently emphasized the need to integrate the Kurds within the legal and constitutional framework of the Republic, ensuring their full rights as citizens. This, he argues, paves the way for building a modern democratic republic based on participation and social solidarity among all components of society.
The delegation of the Equality and Peoples’ Democracy Party (DEM) issued a statement regarding their meeting with Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The statement said that “the meeting, which took place on Tuesday, December 2, lasted four hours.” It added that Leader Öcalan evaluated the outcomes of the meeting with the parliamentary committee, stressing that recent attempts and statements against the ongoing process amount to acts of sabotage.
The statement continued:
“This situation resembles a coup mechanism infiltrating various processes—not a traditional coup, but rather an assault aimed at disrupting efforts toward progress and pushing the process into a state of paralysis. It should be viewed as an attempt to construct a dangerous and distorted reality. What we are witnessing today is a continuation of interventions by forces acting outside the normal parameters of the state. In response, an approach rooted in culture, politics, and organization—whether in its covert or overt form—has emerged, operating in ways reminiscent of the coups that shaped Turkey over the past century. A strong political and social will has taken shape, and this will grows more entrenched by the day.”
During the meeting, Leader Öcalan highlighted developments in the process and offered his assessment, saying:
“External interventions in the path of democracy and political violence will ultimately lead to the formulation of a peace law based on a plurality of rights in Turkey. In this context, our statement issued on February 27 provides a clear program for the next stage. All steps taken toward this goal affirm that our responsibility stems from our national will, and that our aim is to build a shared life.”
The delegation’s statement underscored that:
“In Turkey, all political and social forces aspiring to exercise leadership and governance must adopt a responsible stance, approach political issues sincerely, and become partners in a democratic solution. This path means that the Kurdish people, through the pursuit of rights, will be part of the republic, and that with their active participation, a modern democratic state will be built.”
At the end of the meeting, Leader Öcalan reaffirmed:
“We possess the will and strong determination to push this process forward.
