Floods kill at least 5 in earthquake-affected cities
Floods caused by torrential rains in earthquake-affected cities have killed at least five people as tents have been flooded.
News Center- The February 6 earthquakes that struck Turkey, Kurdistan and Syria, have killed thousands of people and damaged thousands of buildings. Although volunteers continue to make efforts for the earthquake survivors in 11 cities affected by the earthquakes, the quake survivors have been still suffering from many problems. Now, the quake survivors, who take shelter in unsafe tents, suffer from heavy rain. According to officials, the floods caused by torrential rains have killed at least five people in Semsûr and Riha as many tents have been flooded.
Semsûr (Adıyaman)
Floods occurred in Semsûr. One person was killed in the district of Tut, where surging waters swept away a container home, four people are reportedly missing.
Meletî (Malatya)
Heavy rain has flooded the tents of quake survivors in the district of Wêranşar (Doğanşehir). In Malatya, tens of thousands of people have lived in tents since the earthquakes.
Riha (Urfa)
Heavy rain has flooded houses, offices and public buildings in Riha. Four other people have been killed and two firefighters have been reported missing from the floods in the city.
The intensive care unit evacuated
The intensive care unit of the 800-bedded Şanlıurfa Eyyübiye Training and Research Hospital, which was built on agricultural land, has been flooded. Patients in intensive care have been reportedly transferred to other hospitals.
