Farzaneh Rashidi released from prison in Saqqez

Farzaneh Rashidi, a Kurdish civilian from Baneh, Kurdistan Province, has been released from prison in Saqqez on bail after two months in prison.

News Center- Farzaneh Rashidi, a Kurdish civilian from Baneh, Kurdistan Province of Iran, and a student at Payame Noor University, has been released from prison in Saqqez on bail after two months in prison.

Farzaneh Rashidi was arrested by security forces at her home in Baneh on May 25, 2025. Her husband, Saman Karimi, a former political prisoner, was also arrested on the same day without a warrant while walking in the city.

Saman Karimi was previously arrested on November 8, 2018. On November 12, 2019, he was sentenced to death on charges of “armed rebellion against the state” (baghi). On January 1, 2020, Iranian Supreme Court overturned the death sentence, citing deficiencies in the investigation. He was released from prison in Sanandaj March 4, 2021 on bail of 1.5 billion tomans.
