Druze minority nominates woman for position of governor in Sweida
Muhsina Saleh al-Muheithawi has been nominated for the position of governor in the city of Sweida on Wednesday with the support of political and religious groups in the city.

Muhsina Saleh al-Muheithawi was born to a Druze family in Sweida in 1970. She studied economics at the University of Damascus. She has become an important symbol of the peaceful protests that erupted in Sweida over the high inflation rate and deteriorating economic situation in Syria on August 17, 2023.
