Concert of İlkay Akkaya banned!

The ban on concerts in Turkey continues. The concert of singer İlkay Akkaya has been banned for “security” reasons.

News Center- The concert of singer İlkay Akkaya, organized by Adana's Ceyhan Municipality, has been banned by the district governor's office.

The municipality has released a statement regarding the ban and said that the concert has been banned on the grounds of “security and public safety”.

Who is İlkay Akkaya

İlkay Akkaya was born in Istanbul on May 26, 1964. She studied at Marmara University and began her music career when she became a member of the music group Grup Yorum in 1987. On January 10, 1990, she founded the group Kızılırmak along with Tuncay Akdoğan and İsmail İlknur. By April 2008 the group had released 13 albums. One of her albums is “Köleler ve Kilitler (Slaves and Locks).” The album includes a song with the same name “Köleler ve Kilitler.” The song is about slave trades. Her first solo album entitled “Kül (Ash)” was released in 1998. Then, she released many solo albums such as Unutma (Do not forget) in 2001, Yine (Again) in 2003, Yalnız (Alone) in 2005, Umut (Hope) in 2013 and Hayat (Life) in 2015.
