Atefeh Rangriz receives additional seven-year prison sentence
Atefeh Rangriz, a women’s rights and labor activist imprisoned in Shahroud prison, has been sentenced to seven years and seven months in prison, her lawyer announced on Sunday.
News Center- Atefeh Rangriz, a women’s rights and labor activist imprisoned in Shahroud prison, has been sentenced to seven years and seven months in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime”, her lawyer Hossein Taj announced on the social media platform X on Sunday.
On September 10, 2023, Atefeh Rangriz was arrested by Iranian security forces in Damghan. On October 21, she was released on bail.
On June 29, 2024, she was arrested again after being sentenced to two years, seven months, and sixteen days on charges of “collaborating and being a member of opposition groups” and to seven months and sixteen days on charges of “propaganda against the regime”. She was transferred to Shahroud prison to serve her prison sentence.
Since Atefeh Rangriz suffers from a heart disease, she was temporarily released from prison on November 6, 2024 for four days to receive treatment outside of the prison. After four days, she was taken back to the prison.
