On the 764th day of their sit-in protest for justice, the Şenyaşar family reacted to the detention of more than 100 people and said, "These are the last efforts of the ruling party.”

Riha (Urfa) - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in Pirsûs (Turkish: Suruç) district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar has entered its 764th day.

In the morning, Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the courthouse from their home in Pirsûs to seek justice again by unfurling their banner reading, “Justice for the Şenyaşar family”.

This morning, police raided many houses in 21 cities and detained more than 100 people, including lawyers, journalists, politicians, artists and activists.

Green Left Party’s Urfa candidate Ferit Şenyaşar reacted to the detentions and said, “Today, journalists who write the truth, lawyers, who defend human rights, and politicians who struggle for a better future in Türkiye, have been detained. These are the last efforts of the losing ruling party. We make efforts to bring justice and democracy to Türkiye; we will prevail. Justice and peace will come to Türkiye. The only way for bringing justice, democracy and people to Türkiye is to change this government. Together, we will change and prevail.”
