News Center – The deterioration of activist Narges Mohammadi's health condition has sparked a wave of international concern, amid demands to transfer her to a well‑equipped hospital and provide immediate medical care.
The president of the World Medical Association, Dr. Jacqueline Kitulu, expressed today, Thursday, May 7, her deep concern over the sharp deterioration in the health condition of human rights activist Narges Mohammadi inside Iranian prisons, affirming that depriving prisoners of necessary healthcare constitutes a clear violation of the right to health and puts the patient's life at serious risk.
She stressed that international standards oblige states to provide prisoners with a level of medical care equivalent to that received by the general population without any form of discrimination, calling on Iranian authorities to provide urgent and unrestricted medical care for activist Narges Mohammadi.
She affirmed the need to transfer her to a well‑equipped hospital and provide specialized medical supervision to ensure her safety, pointing out that Narges Mohammadi's health condition requires immediate medical intervention, especially after she suffered a heart attack inside Zanjan prison days ago and lost consciousness twice, which necessitated her transfer to a hospital in the city.
On May 5, Narges Mohammadi's lawyer announced that her client's life is in grave danger, affirming that her family is making intensive efforts to ensure she receives necessary treatment and to save her life.
