Hrana: Execution of 61 Women in Iran and East Kurdistan in One Year

Hrana agency report: Iran and East Kurdistan saw 61 women executed in one year, with death sentences for 13 more, signaling rising violations against women.

News Center — Iran is witnessing a significant rise in executions of women, alongside the continued use of this punishment in various cases, amid increasing international criticism demanding a halt to the implementation of sentences and a review of the associated judicial procedures.

The Human Rights Activists News Agency "Hrana" released its annual report on the situation of women in Iran and East Kurdistan, highlighting the escalation of violations between March 21, 2025, and March 21, 2026.

According to the report, at least 61 women were executed during the mentioned period, while death sentences were issued against 13 other women. The agency also documented more than 74 cases of sexual assault, 30 murders of women, in addition to 187 cases of domestic violence.

The report confirmed the continued pressures related to the enforcement of mandatory hijab, where 13 women were detained for refusing to comply with it, 4 of whom were arrested. Meanwhile, 11 women were summoned to court and the Ministry of Intelligence, and 7 women underwent interrogations by forces of the Ministry of Intelligence.
