Qamishlo – Turkey recently carried out an operation on the city of Derik, NE Syria as well as the Maxmur Camp and Shengal in Federal Kurdistan with unmanned aerial vehicles. Politician Zelal Ceger spoke to JINHA about the Turkey attacks and the developments in the Middle East. Drawing attention to the interests of countries such as the USA, Russia, France, and the UK in the Middle East, Zelal Ceger said, “The Turkish state also benefits from the current turmoil in the Middle East. It plays the role of a Trojan horse in the region by visiting Libya, entering Syria, and interfering in the issues of Armenia. It wants to perpetuate its power with all these games. Surely, it does this through military warfare.”

“It wants to be successful with attacks”

Speaking about the aims of the Turkish attacks, Zelal Ceger said, “The Turkish state went bankrupt economically in 2021. It has still suffered from the economic crisis. In addition, it has suffered from a serious political crisis. Erdoğan wants to be successful again as AKP in 2023. For this reason, he attacks the mountains of Kurdistan against the opposition. But Erdoğan has failed on the mountains of Kurdistan; he has been defeated despite all his technological weapons.”

“They wanted to revive ISIS”

Drawing attention to the statement of Tayyip Erdoğan two months ago, claiming he would announce a surprise, Zelal Ceger said, “This surprise was the attack by ISIS on the Sina’a Prison in the Xiwêran neighborhood in 2022. In our opinion, it was a joint attack of ISIS and the Turkish state. Every country remained silent against this attack. The Turkish state aimed to transfer the members of ISIS to regions in Syria controlled by the Turkish state. They wanted to destroy our revolution. They tried to create a new occupation area in Syrian through ISIS and revive ISIS. But their plans were frustrated by the resistance of the people of NE Syria and security forces.”

“Turkey violates the law”

Stating that Turkey is known for its hostility against the Kurdish people for many years, Zelal Ceger drew attention to its policies on violence against the Kurdish people. “The Turkish state has implemented all its dirty plans in Southern Kurdistan and Rojava through ISIS. The Turkish state has occupied Girê Spî, Afrin and Serêkaniyê. It bombs civilians every day. The international community has remained silent against these attacks. When the plan of the Turkish state was frustrated in Hesekê, it bombed Dêrik, Shengal, and Maxmur with its F-16s. According to international law, one country’s fighter jets are prohibited from flying to other countries unless there is a state of war. The Turkish state violates international law.”

“The permanent solution can be ensured with the Democratic Nation”

Emphasizing that the system of the Democratic Nation is the solution, Zelal Ceger said, “Our people must believe that they can perpetuate the failure of the Turkish state with resistance. If we don’t unite, Erdoğan and the states that want to maintain their control in the Middle East will continue to play their dirty games. The permanent solution can be ensured with the Democratic Nation.”
