Kobanê – 24 years have passed since the international conspiracy launched against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan by international forces and regional countries on October 9, 1998. The process that started after Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan was forced to leave Syria, has brought important social and political developments both in Turkey and in the Middle East with it, in terms of its effects and results. Since then, the starting date of attacks and agreements has been determined as October 9th. For instance, On October 9, 2019, Turkey invaded Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê. So we can say that the conspiracy has continued in different ways. NuJINHA spoke to Ayşe Efendi, Co-chair of the Council of Martyrs' Families in the Euphrates region about the conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan.

“Turkey has a political and geographic plan”

Speaking about the ongoing Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, Eyşe Efendi pointed to the invasion of Afrin before the invasion of Girê Spî. “The Turkish state carried out intensive attacks on Afrin in 2018. For 58 days, the people of Afrin and fighters resisted attacks. The Turkish state's project to invade North and East Syria regions started from Afrin. One year later, the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions carried out attacks on Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî and took them under their control. The aim of the Turkish state is to close the Afrin, Kobanê, Serêkaniyê and Derik lines. Turkey has a political and geographic plan in North and East Syria. The people of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, of course, exhibited a unique resistance against the jets, tanks and artillery of the Turkish state.”

“We are ready for every situation”

“Since 2019, the Turkish state has attacked the region,” Eyşe Efendi said, “It intensifies its attacks especially on the anniversary of its occupation. The Turkish state has carried out cross-border attacks in order to depopulate the region. Due to the Turkish attacks, we do not have a peaceful and safe life. As the years pass, the Turkish state has intensified its attacks. The international forces in North and East Syria and the Baathist regime act according to their own interests and support the Turkish state. Despite everything, I think that the Turkish state no longer has the power to invade our lands. We are ready for every situation and our people are also ready.”

“A conspiracy carried out against the Kurdish people in the person of Abdullah Öcalan”

Speaking about the international conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, Eyşe Efendi said, “Leader Apo developed many projects and trained thousands of people in Rojava Kurdistan, where he lived for 18 years. The international conspiracy against leader Apo started on October 9, 1998. Since then, we have lived in the circles of conspiracy. The invasion of Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî is a part of this conspiracy. A conspiracy was carried out against the Kurdish people in the person of Abdullah Öcalan. At that time, the Turkish state did not have a powerful intelligence service; however, the international powers handed him over to the Turkish state.”

“We have already frustrated the conspiracy”

Stating that they, as Kurdish people, have embraced the philosophy of their leader, Eyşe Efendi said, “In this way, we have already frustrated the conspiracy. Since the first day of the conspiracy, the Kurdish people have supported their leader. Thousands of Kurdish youth set themselves on fire and fought for months. Today, the ideology of leader Apo is known all around the world. All segments of North and East Syria live under the umbrella of the Democratic Nation project now. We are ready to protect our region. We promise that we will liberate our leader and our regions from occupation.”
