“They try to implement a three-sided plan in Shengal”
“The Iraqi government, regional government and Turkey have a joint plan on Shengal. The aim of the plan is to resolve the Autonomous Administration and depopulate the region,” Euphrates Region Executive Council member Emine Bekir says.

Kobanê- The Iraqi government and Kurdistan regional government signed an agreement on October 9, 2020 in order to change Shengal according to their interests. For two years, these two governments have been trying to implement the articles of this agreement with the perspective of Turkey. Euphrates Region Executive Council member Emine Bekir spoke to NuJINHA about the latest situation in Shengal.
“New plans are being implemented about Shengal”
Pointing to the plans implemented against Shengal and the Yazidi people, Emine Bekir said, “All humanity has witnessed the inhumane practices carried out in Shengal. Thousands of Yazidis were killed, displaced and abducted during the genocide committed in Shengal by ISIS. This genocide is a black mark in the 21st century. After the genocide, the people of Shengal rebuilt their lives and formed their defense units. The people of Shengal know very well those who helped and supported them during the genocide. Now, the Iraqi government and Kurdistan regional government aim to resolve the power, will and faith of the Yazidis in Shengal and return them to their pre-2014 status.”
“They want to evacuate the Yazidis from Shengal”
Speaking about the purpose of the ongoing attacks on Shengal, Emine Bekir called on the international community to fulfill their responsibility for Shengal.
“The aim of the Iraqi government, Kurdistan regional government and Turkey is to eliminate the Self-Governance Project and evacuate the region from its original inhabitants. The aim of the construction of the wall between Shengal and Rojava is the same. The same policy is carried out against all peoples living in Kurdistan. Just as they divided Kurdistan into four parts in previous centuries, they make the same efforts to repeat history today,” she said.
“People should determine our destiny”
Stating that hegemon powers are trying to extend their governments, Emine Bekir concluded her speech as follows:
“As the Kurdish people, we have established a democratic system as all groups living under the umbrella of the Autonomous Administration. Our goal is to build a free life; however, the Hegemon powers and sovereigns use every means to prevent this. These powers want to revive ISIS in order to prolong the crisis. For this reason, we call on the people who stand by and support these governments not to support this mentality and determine their destiny.
