Qamishlo – After making a deal with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP or PDK), the Turkish state launched a new ground and air cross-border operation in the Kurdistan Region on April 17. The Kurdish people and their friends have been holding protests to condemn the Turkish attacks on the region. We spoke to Rihan Loqo, a coordinator member of the Kongra Star in Rojava, about the ongoing Turkish attacks on the Kurdish people.

“They made a deal to occupy the region”

Rihan Loqo first condemned the alliance between the PDK and the Turkish state and said, “The PDK had a meeting with the Turkish state on April 15. The presidents of the two countries made a deal on the occupation of the territory of the Kurdistan Region. I strongly condemn this. We, as a nation, have been going through a historical period and Kurdish children wrote the history of the Kurds with their blood, their resistance becomes a role model for the whole world. The Kurdish people want the unity of the Kurds in the Kurdistan Region. While the Kurdish people expected all Kurds to take a stand against the invasion of the Turkish state in the territories of Kurdistan, the PDK held a meeting with the Turkish state against the Kurdish people. The alliance between PDK and the Turkish state shows that mutual relations have been established.”

“A genocidal policy is being carried out”

Drawing attention to the construction of the wall between Shengal and Rojava, Rihan Loqo said, “The Kurdish people and their friends realized the conspiracy of the PDK and the Turkish state. The people have been showing their attitude across Kurdistan. The Iraqi government has been building a wall between Shengal and Rojava. Actually, this plan is the plan of the Turkish state. Their aim is to divide the people. All the Kurds believe in the project of self-government and that is why we face more attacks. A genocidal policy has been carried out across Kurdistan.”

“Turkey and PDK will be defeated again”

Speaking about the operation launched by Turkey in the Kurdistan Region, Rihan Loqo continued to talk as follows: “The Turkish state and PDK already had a plan to attack the territory of the Kurdistan Region. And they began to attack the region on April 17. We condemn these attacks and salute the resistance of our children. As the people of North and East Syria, we stand by the children of Kurdistan. It seems like the Turkish state will continue to carry out its attacks. It also carried out an attack in winter but failed. Those who won were the people, who love freedom. The defeat of the traitors once again went down in history. The Turkish state and its ally PDK were defeated in the territory of the Kurdistan Region. These defeats were not enough for them; they have been attacking our lands again with a different conspiracy and a different mentality. We believe in our strength and the Turkish state and its ally PDK will be defeated once again.”

“The Kurds must take a stand against attacks”

Rihan Loqo called on the Kurds all around the world to take a stand against attacks and asked all Kurdish people living across Kurdistan to take to the streets and protest the attacks.  “We can support our children together. We will fight and not allow the PDK and the Turkish state to invade the Kurdistan Region. We say no to betrayal. As Kongra Star, we will be always on the ground. The Turkish state is an occupying state. Now, it targets the lands of Shengal and the Kurdistan Region. We will show the whole world that the Turkish state is a traitor and targets people from all nations.  We will be always on the ground to support our children. We will build unity and live a free life together.”
