Pervin Buldan: Women will determine the election results
Making a speech at the meeting of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council, Pervin Buldan said, “Women will determine the election results.”
Ankara – The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council held a meeting at the party headquarters to determine their next policies. HDP Co-chair Pervin Buldan made the opening speech of the meeting.
“Every women, who speaks out freely and demands democracy in the country has become the phobia of the ruling party. For this reason, women have faced the most brutal attacks especially in recent years. As they (the ruling party) remain in despair, they intensify their attacks against women,” Pervin Buldan said in her speech. Drawing attention to the detention process of HDP MP Semra Güzel, Pervin Buldan said, “The aim is to make the Kurdish identity, women’s free will and democratic struggle to head down.”
“Semra Güzel is the will of our people and women. Nothing can make her head down. Women will hold their heads straight as Semra Güzel did. We send our love and respect to our friend Semra Güzel on behalf of our Women's Council,” Pervin Buldan added.
“They make women to pay the price”
“They attack all segments of society as their crimes, unlawful practices and corruption increase,” Pervin Buldan said, pointing out the economic crisis deepening in the country.
“Undoubtedly, women are the most affected by this economic crisis. Women pay the price of each bribe and corruption. Women suffer from unemployment, insecurity and poverty. This is a conscious economic violence against women by male-dominant politics. In addition, women suffer from gender-based violence and crimes. The AKP government and its partners are responsible for the increase in these gender-based crimes.”
“Their preparations for elections mean more fear, oppression and chaos”
Speaking about the debates on elections, Pervin Buldan said, “We are aware that they aim to prepare for the elections in a different way since they do not have any single solution project that they can promise to the people for the next elections. Their preparations for elections mean more fear, oppression and chaos. The government will carry out its election campaign by attacking the women’s achievements, democracy and labor forces, by threatening neighboring countries and looking for a war opportunity.”
“No one should do politics over the HDP”
Pervin Buldan responded to the discussions on forming an alliance at the meeting and said, “There are discussions on upcoming elections. I want to say that no alliance without women can succeed. The People's Alliance and the Nation Alliance should know very well that the HDP is a women’s party and supports women’s struggle. No one should do politics over the HDP. They should think again and again when they talk about the HDP. Women will determine the election results. We will determine the future. We, as women, will win, our society will win with us and the country will win! Democracy, peace and freedom will win, justice will win!”
