Attacks on female political prisoners
Sebahat Tuncel, who has been held in Sincan Prison, reports that they have been subjected to violence in prison especially after the racist incidents in Turkey.
Ankara - Sebahat Tuncel, former co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), sent a message from Sincan Prison through her lawyers. Her lawyers report that female political prisoners have been subjected to violence in the prison since July 28. “This situation continues in a systematic way. The officers are trying to provoke the prisoners,” the lawyers say.
“We were subjected to violence”
Female political prisoners were reportedly subjected to violence when they reacted to attacks on them on August 7. “We wrote a letter to the Ministry of Justice about this issue but our letter was confiscated. We also applied to the prosecutor's office,” reported Sabahat Tuncel through her lawyers. She also reports that they have been subjected to violence in prison especially after the racist incidents (racist attacks against Kurds especially after wildfires broke out in many cities of Turkey) in Turkey.
