Manbij- Five people have been killed, four more have been injured in the attacks carried out by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions on the village of Manbij since September 1. Due to the attacks, many people have been forcibly displaced while some have taken shelter in farms around the villages to keep themselves safe.

‘The aim is to displace civilians’

Hatice El-Karaja is one of the people, who left their villages to a safer village. She left her village al-Sayada, located northwest of Manbij due to ongoing attacks. Now, she stays in the village of Tel El-Akhdar with her family. “The people in the village of al-Sayade have to live in very bad conditions. The aim of the attacks is to displace civilians and loot civilians’ houses. The attackers have stolen the belongings of civilians,” she told NuJINHA.

‘We do not want our homeland to be occupied’

Madiha El Hüseyin is from the village of al-Bir Fawqani, located in the north of Manbij. She had to leave her village with her family due to the ongoing attacks on the surrounding villages. In an interview with NuJINHA, she said:

“We were in fear of our lives. We were afraid of our house to be attacked and of ISIS to attack us. On July 27, 2016, ISIS attacked our village and killed 35 civilians, including women and children. We are tired of clashes, murders, and destruction. All we want is to live in peace, to be governed by our people. We do not want anyone (else) to govern us and occupy our homeland. We call on the human rights organizations to end the attacks.”

‘They aim to disrupt the security and stability of the region’

Fatima El Hüseyin from the village of Zencal is another woman, who had to leave their house due to the ongoing attacks. “The attacks on the villages of Manbij target civilians. On September 2, 70-year-old Fatima El Hac Muhammed was killed in the attacks on the village of Arab Hassan. The mercenaries raided the house of a civilian named Mahmud in the village of Arab Hassan. During the raid, his son and his wife Amani Al-Yahya were injured. The Turkish state aims to disrupt the security and stability in the region by carrying out attacks.”
