Sit-in protest of Şenyaşar family continues on its 428th day
The Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office makes the decision not to prosecute the investigation launched against Emine Şenyaşar for allegedly “insulting AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız”.
Riha - The sit-in protest started in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out on June 14, 2018, in the Suruç district of Urfa province by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has entered its 428th day.
The family came in front of the Urfa Courthouse in the morning to hold their sit-in protest. Today, lawyer Serdar Tüm visited the family.
The decision of non-prosecution
The Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office makes the decision not to prosecute the investigation launched against Emine Şenyaşar for allegedly “insulting AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız”.
AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız’s lawyer filed a criminal complaint against Emine Şenyaşar for allegedly “insulting Yıldız” for her speech on March 3, 2022, on the first anniversary of the sit-in protest.
Until now, 14 investigations have been launched against Emine Şenyaşar for allegedly insulting AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız and Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu. Three lawsuits were filed against Emine Şenyaşar as part of three investigations. Two lawsuits were filed by the Urfa 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance and one by the Ankara Batıkent 6th Criminal Court of First Instance. The legal processes of the 10 investigations launched against Emine Şenyaşar continue.
