Iran: Two women receive prison sentences for participating in protests
The Iranian authorities keep issuing prison sentences against protesters in an attempt to crack down on the nationwide protests.
News Center- The “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” protests that started in Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini have entered their 118th day. Despite all the oppression, threats, detentions, attacks and executions, the people continue to demand freedom by holding protests led by women. The Iranian authorities keep issuing prison sentences against protesters to crack down on the nationwide protests.
She has been sentenced to one year in prison and 50 lashes
Yesterday, the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran sentenced women’s rights activist Laila Mansour to one year in prison and 50 lashes. The court also banned Laila Mansour from travelling abroad for two years and issued a political ban on her. Laila Mansour was arrested on November 16, 2022 and transferred to Evin prison for participating in the nationwide protests.
Court sentences her to two years in prison
The 2nd Branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Shahriar has sentenced Mahsa Farhadi,21, to two years in prison on charges of “gathering and collusion with the intention of disrupting national security”. Mahsa Farhadi, who worked at a beauty salon in the Andisheh Town of Tehran, was arrested by security forces on November 15, 2022, after leaving her workplace without wearing a headscarf. Two days after her arrest, her family was informed that she was arrested and transferred to Qarchak prison.
