Indictment prepared against 9 journalists
The indictment against nine journalists, including Esra Solin Dal, Mehmet Aslan and Erdoğan Alayumat, has been prepared and sent to the Istanbul 25th High Criminal Court.
News Center- The indictment against nine journalists, including Esra Solin Dal, Mehmet Aslan and Erdoğan Alayurt, has been prepared and sent to the Istanbul 25th High Criminal Court.
The court will decide whether to accept the indictment or not in 15 days.
On April 23, 2024, Turkish police conducted dawn house raids in Istanbul, Ankara and Riha (Urfa) detaining nine journalists: Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporters Esra Solin Dal and Mehmet Aslan; Enes Sezgin, an employee of the Yeni Yaşam newspaper; media workers Saliha Aras, Yeşim Alıcı, Beste Argat Balcı and Şirin Ermiş; journalist Erdoğan Alayumat and MA former reporter Doğan Kaynak.
On April 26, the detained journalists were referred to courthouses in three cities. Mehmet Aslan, Esra Solin Dal and Erdoğan Alayumat were sent to prison pending trial on charges of “membership in a (terrorist) organization”.
