As the people of the region have faced very hard days due to hot weather, the cold drinks shop of Sîdar Rizgar, who lives in Halabja, cools people down in the hot weather. Sîdar Rizgar sells organic and local products in her shop to stand on her own legs. The young shopkeeper encourages women to start their own businesses.

“We want to grow our business”

Sîdar opens her shop in the early morning to welcome customers. Welcoming everyone as a guest is a cultural value for her so she welcomes everyone as a guest. “Actually, I decided to open a shop with my sister. We have newly opened the shop but we want to grow our business. We like serving people and people need such shops,” Sîdar said.

“Women should stand on their own legs”

Sîdar Rizgar produces organic and local products such as fruit ice cream and cold drinks. After opening their shop, many people, particularly women, show great interest in their shop. “If women work and start their own business, our society thinks it is a shame. But every woman visiting my shop supports me and this makes me happy. I think all women of Halabja should stand on their own legs. We need this.”
