Report on Afghan women by AIHRC
191 people lost their lives and 1,059 people were injured in July due to conflicts in Afghanistan, according to the report released by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC). The report also says that 78, 911 families were forcibly displaced in July.
News Center - An estimated 270,000 people were forcibly displaced from their homes since January, more than 3.5 million people have been internally displaced due to the ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan, according to the report released by the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) released a report entitled, “Taliban impose new restrictions on women in the areas under their control” on July 14. According to the report, the restrictions haven’t been imposed only on women but also on men; men are forced to grow a beard, into marriage with Taliban members and they face education restrictions.
In the report, the AIHRC confirms the news reported by news outlets about the restrictions on women in the areas under the control of the Taliban. The report reveals that Taliban impose restrictions in their controlled cities, particularly in Faryab, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Takhar.
Restrictions on watching TV, mixed gender schools…
“Taliban impose many restrictions such as banning women and girls from going out without wearing a hijab, closing the mixed gender schools, banning watching TV and forcing male teachers and students to grow a beard,” the report says.
“After the Taliban took control of the Shirin Tagab Province, the Taliban group members imposed a series of restrictions on women and warned all doctors, public transport drivers and shopkeepers that they would be punished if they cooperated with women,” a resident of the Shirin Tagab Province said in the report.
“Women cannot leave their houses without a male companion”
According to the report, Taliban members announced in the Kashm, Baharak, Jeddah, Ergo, Khash, Sheghnan and Ashkesham districts that women are not allowed to leave their houses without a male companion.

The report also includes the calls and demands of the Afghan Women's Network.
“The silence of the international community, especially of the United Nations against all these pressures on the Afghan people increases the human rights violations against women and children in the country. Just releasing statements about what is going on in Afghanistan is not enough. We demand practical and supportive measures,” the network said in the report.
