Qamishlo- On September 9, a child development center named the “Ehlen Sisim” center was opened in Qamishlo by North and East Syrian Women’s Council for children affected by the war and crisis in North and East Syria. The center aims to reveal the skills of children, ensure their development and strengthen them in many areas and increase their self-confidence. One of the teachers of the center, Xezal Îniz spoke to NuJINHA about the purpose and activities of the center.

“We want to reveal their skills”

Reporting that they have already opened a branch of the center in the Tirbêspiyê town of Qamishlo, Xezal Îniz said, “The center aims at the development of children aged 3 to 8. We aim to reach more children soon. We want children to be self-confident and reveal their skills. We aim to raise a healthy, productive and creative generation.”

They will be more self-confident”

Noting that the center consists of two departments, Xezal Îniz said, “One department is for families while the other is for children. We tell families how to communicate with their children. In addition, we talk about what a family is, how it should be, and the importance of the bond between children and families. Both families and children will be more self-confident and will be able to solve their problems without fear.”

“We want to improve children in every respect”

Pointing out that the center does not have a kindergarten, Xezal Îniz said, “Because we do not focus on children’s learning to read and write. We want to improve children in every respect. The most important thing is the development of children’s personality. Now, there are five teachers at the center. Every day, the teachers give sessions to children. The number of sessions are determined according to the number of children. Generally, two or three sessions are organized.”

“We aim to open more branches of the center”

Xezal Îniz drew attention to the intense interest of the people in the center and said that the families send their children to the center because they know their children are in a safe place.  Noting that they organize activities such as music, dance, painting and story reading at the center, Xezal Îniz said, “Children love these activities. We aim to open branches of the center in many cities and towns.”
