Conference called “Towards a Successful Kurdish-Arab Dialogue” held in Baghdad
A conference called “Towards a Successful Kurdish-Arab Dialogue” was held in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. Journalist and Jineologist Necibe Qeredaxi emphasized the importance of women’s unity against patriarchal mentality.

Sulaymaniyah- A conference called “Towards a Successful Kurdish-Arab Dialogue” was held in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, on December 11 with the participation of politicians, representatives of organizations for a democratic society, and the Initiative of Academics. More than 100 writers, politicians, and academics from Shengal, Iraq, and Kurdistan Region attended the conference. The aim of the conference was announced as to form a democratic front.
Journalist and Jineologist Necibe Qeredaxi spoke to NuJINHA about the role of Kurdish and Arab women in society and the conference. Pointing out that the Middle East has suffered from multiple crises such as economic and ecological crises, Necibe Qatedaxi emphasized that this dialogue is important to end the crisis. Pointing out that the coexistence of the peoples is important for the Kurdish-Arab dialogue, Necibe Qeredaxi pointed out that the sovereigns have been fighting for their seats and that's why the problems of the peoples have not been solved until now. Speaking about the discussions at the conference, she said, “Only men are thought when the economy, politics, state, and democracy are in question. It’s thought they are men’s duties. For this reason, when violence is mentioned, women are thought. The presence of a few women in some positions does not mean that there is no discrimination. Society tries to eliminate this discrimination with different methods.”
Women should work together
Emphasizing that the Middle East needs a self-government model, she said, “Kurdish and Arab women should work together to change the mentality in society. Because women need the existence of society and patriotic identity. Women are affected by the occupation more than men.”
Speaking about that the solution model of NE Syria, Necibe Qeredaxi said that women are pioneers in this system. “Women should unite against patriarchal mentality,” she said.
