Tunisian artist Faten Al-Rizki turns her home into art studio

Interior architect Faten Al-Rizki has turned a corner of her house into an art studio after looking for a job for a long time.

Tunisia- 30-year-old Faten Al-Rizki looked for a job for a long time after graduating from the Department of Interior Architecture. Then, she decided to turn a corner of her house into an art studio in order to make a living by producing artworks.

“Women are the symbol of peace”

Faten Al- Rizki learned how to paint from her mother. “Painting is my hobby and profession. Painting is an art.” Faten Al-Rizki paints on crystal and wood and focuses on the Tunisian traditional aspect with its modernity. She portrays women in her paintings because “Women are the symbol of life and peace.”

“The exhibition halls are expensive”

Fatem Al-Rizki thinks women crafts and artists are not supported in Tunisia. She also complains about the high prices of art materials. She also faces difficulties in holding an exhibition as an artist. “Even though the exhibition halls are small, the cost of renting the halls is very expensive. As artists, we also face difficulties in marketing our artworks.”

Call on the government to provide free exhibition halls

Fatem Al-Rizki called on the Tunisian government to provide free exhibition halls in order to support women artists and provide job opportunities to other women.
