Shengal (Sinjar) - The Shengal Young Women’s Union has released a statement condemning the massacres that took place in Paris on January 9, 2013 and on December 23, 2014. In the statement, the young women said that they would follow the footsteps of women pioneers.

The statement read by Naciya Xelef, member of the Shengal Young Women’s Union said, “We commemorate all the martyrs who lost their lives in the Paris Massacres. December is known as black month in our history. While those who are responsible for the Roboski Massacre must be brought to account, the Turkish state acts as if nothing happened. The same mentality commits more massacres against our community and the Kurdish people every day. Lastly, three pioneers of the Kurdish people were murdered in Paris.”

‘The French state is responsible for the massacre’

Emphasizing that the French state is responsible for the massacre that took place in Paris on December 23, Naciya Xelef added, “The AKP/MHP murdered three Kurdish pioneers, who defended the culture and freedom of their people, in Paris by practicing the same mentality. How was such a massacre committed in Paris where even a fly cannot fly without the knowledge of the state? All states remain silent when the question is Kurds and Kurdistan. Their silence leads to massacres.”

‘The struggle of Sara is our struggle’

Calling on Yazidi women to raise their voices against the massacres, Naciya Xelef said in the statement, “10 years ago, three women, pioneers of the Kurdish Women’s freedom Movement, were targeted and killed in Paris. However, the French state did not reveal the dark forces behind the massacre. But everyone should know very well that the Kurdish people and their friends will take to the streets until the murderers are brought to account. The struggle of Sara is our struggle.”
