Hasakah- The Kongra Star Health Council, consisting of the members of the Women’s Foundation, Public Health Committees, Women’s Assemblies and Kurdish Red Crescent, held its annual meeting on October 20 to promote natural medicine and build a healthy society.

The coordinating member of Kongra Star in Hasakah Canton and Education Committee in Hasakah Canton attended the meeting that was held at the Kongra Star Headquarters. NuJINHA spoke to Hiba Ebid Elah, Spokesperson of the Kongra Star Health Council, and Şiraz Silman, member of the Kongra Star Alternative Medicine Committee in Aleppo.

“Our aim is to build a healthy society”

Indicating that the aim of the meeting was to build a healthy society, Hiba Ebid Elah stated that the patriarchal mentality uses healthcare services as a tool to earn money. “The patriarchal mentality wants to build its system through women. Many women, particularly living in conflict regions, have been badly affected by this system. As the Kongra Star Health Council, our aim is to raise awareness and to build a healthy society.”

“Women are the architects of natural medicine”

A member of the Kongra Star Alternative Medicine Committee in Aleppo, Şiraz Silman pointed to the importance of natural medicine. “Women are the architects of natural medicine. They discovered natural products to heal people and many women lost their lives while trying to find the right plants to heal people because they tested the natural remedies first on themselves. The natural society was a healthy society developed with the labor and sacrifice of women. However, later, the male-dominant systems began to take control with the formation of strata in societies and societies disconnected from nature. Diseases were later treated by using chemical drugs. Unfortunately, these chemical drugs have negative effects on human health. Natural medicine has no negative effects on human health. Rulers build their systems and strengthen their economies in the name of the health of society. Health services must not be used to earn money. As the Alternative Medicine Committee, our primary aim is to protect the natural society and to build an ethical and healthy society by promoting natural medicine and raising awareness.”

“We will hold training activities to end gender inequality in health”

Mentioning the attacks on women in the health sector, Şiraz Silman said that the patriarchal mentality shows women as a commodity by using media. “We should stop this dirty mentality. We will end gender inequality in health by holding awareness-raising training activities. In our society, the caesarean section rate continues to rise. We think the caesarean section is very risky for women.”
