Türkiye: Earthquake kills one person in Balıkesir
An earthquake with a 6.1 magnitude hit Türkiye's Balıkesir city on Sunday, killing one person and injuring 29 others.

News Center- An earthquake with a 6.1 magnitude hit Balıkesir, located in the Türkiye’s Marmara region, on Sunday.
The earthquake has killed an 81-year-old person and injured 29 others, Türkiye's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya told journalists in Balıkesir’s Sındırgı district on Sunday evening.
An elderly woman died shortly after being pulled out alive from the debris of a collapsed building in Sındırgı, four other people were rescued from the building, the minister said.
Ali Yerlikaya also told journalists that a total of 16 buildings had collapsed in the earthquake. “12 of them were derelict and four were inhabited buildings. Our citizens in these buildings got out of the rubble by themselves. Two mosque minarets also tumbled down. We will conduct preliminary damage assessments at first light,” the minister said, adding that none of the injured were in serious condition.
