Türkiye: 4 journalists sent to prison in Artvin
A Turkish court has ordered the pretrial detention of four journalists, who were detained on June 13 as part of an investigation launched in Artvin, the release of two other journalists under judicial control.

News Center- Seven people, including six journalists, were detained in dawn raids conducted in Istanbul as part of an investigation launched in Artvin, a city in northeastern Türkiye, on June 13, 2025. They were transferred to Artvin on charges of “Membership in an illegal organization” over their social media posts.
After three days in detention, the journalists were referred to the Artvin Courthouse on Monday. The prosecutor requested their pretrial detention and referred them to the Criminal Court of Peace.
The court ordered the pretrial detention of Ozan Cırık, a journalist with Sendika.org, journalists Dicle Baştürk, Yavuz Akengin and Eylem Emel Yılmaz on charges “Membership in an illegal organization” and the release of journalists Melisa Efe and Semra Pelek under judicial control.
