Turkey... Report Documents Expanding Circle of Violence Against Women in August
According to violence statistics published by JINNEWS agency in August, 22 women and three children were killed in various cities across Turkey and North Kurdistan, while 19 women and seven children died under unclear circumstances.
News Center — Femicide cases are escalating in Turkey, amid the widening circle of domestic and societal violence, and growing fears of continued weak protection and deterrence mechanisms, bringing the issue of gender‑based violence back to the forefront.
JINNEWS agency documented in its report for August a rise in violence rates, recording the killing of at least 22 women and three children, along with the deaths of 19 women and seven children under unspecified circumstances.
According to the published data, eight women were killed by their husbands, two by separated husbands, two by former partners, one by a current partner, and one by her ex‑husband.
The report also recorded two cases of women killed by their sons, one case by the victim's father, and one by the husband's brother, in addition to one killing committed by an unidentified man, with the relationship between the perpetrators and victims not specified in three cases.
