Turkey: Men kill 25 women in March
25 women were killed, 21 more died under suspicious circumstances in Turkey last month, according to the March 2024 report released by the We Will Stop Femicide Platform.
News Center- We Will Stop Femicide Platform (Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız Platformu-KCDP) has released its March 2024 report on femicide.
25 women were killed and 21 more died under suspicious circumstances, the report said. “Three women were killed by men on the excuse that they had asked for a divorce, refused marriage or dating proposals. One woman was killed on the excuse of financial reasons. The excuse of men, who killed 21 women, could not be determined.”
The report said, “Without the determination of the reasons behind femicide, the fair trial and preventive measures, violence against women continues by changing its forms.”
Most of the victims of femicide in March were killed at their homes by their husbands, ex-husbands, partners and intimate partners, according to the report. “15 women were shot dead by men, 10 women were killed with sharp objects. 20% of the killed women had had a restraining order against the perpetrators.”
