TJA: Isolation should be broken
Free Women’s Movement (TJA) made a statement for the 22nd anniversary of the kidnapping of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. “Freedom cannot be ensured without breaking the isolation. Imrali is an absolute system of isolation and it should be immediately lifted,” said women and called on the international organizations to lift the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan.
News Center- TJA underlined that legal norms and international conventions are violated in all prisons, particularly in Imrali Prison, “The open silence of for 22 years CPT shows that international organizations have an impact upon the ongoing violations in Imrali Prison and that they have approached in a discriminatory manner about the Imralı Island. The delegation of the CPT visited Turkey between January 11 and 25, 2021 but they didn’t visit the Imralı Island. This shows us again that the international conspiracy continues. “
No solution without breaking the isolation
Highlighting that the ongoing system of isolation should be removed, the TJA said, “Being aware of this ongoing international conspiracy launched 22 years ago, we stand by the demands of all prisoners who keep their hunger strike and repeat that freedom will not be ensured without breaking the isolation. We cannot talk about democracy and justice without breaking the isolation imposed on Imralı Island, the isolation is an unlawfulness practice, violation of human rights. We cannot talk about the solution of the Kurdish question. We call on all national and international organizations; Imrali is an absolute system of isolation and it should be immediately lifted.”
