‘The thoughts of leader Apo show the oppressed the way to freedom’
“Although the thoughts of leader Apo are behind bars, they show the oppressed the way to freedom,” said Emşê Korkorkî, Co-chair of Shengal People’s Assembly.

Shengal (Sinjar)- 26 years have passed since an international conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan took place on October 9, 1998. The conspiracy that started following the departure of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan from Syria’s capital Damascus on October 9, continued until February 15, 1999, when he was taken captive. However, the conspiracy that started against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan 26 years ago still continues as it is 43 months since he has had contact with the outside world. October 9 is also the date when Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ayn) and Girê Spî (Tell Abyad) were occupied by the Turkish state and an agreement signed by the Turkish state, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), and the Iraqi government regarding Shengal.
‘The thoughts of leader Apo show the oppressed the way to freedom’
26 years ago, Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan left Damascus and went to Europe to solve the Kurdish question as a result of an international conspiracy, Emşê Korkorkî, Co-chair of Shengal People’s Assembly, told NuJINHA. “Unfortunately, the enemy had a plan and arrested our leader because the enemy was afraid of his thoughts. Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) has been held in the prison island of Imrali for 26 years and no information has been received from him for more than four years. Despite the isolation imposed on him, the enemy is still afraid of his thoughts because the thoughts of leader Apo show the oppressed the way to freedom although they are behind bars.”
‘The struggle will always continue’
The enemy's plans and the October 9 agreement will fail, Emşê Korkorkî stressed, adding: “Since the genocide against the Yazidi community on August 3, 2014, the Yazidi people have improved themselves through the thoughts and philosophy of leader Apo. Like the people in four parts of Kurdistan, the Yazidi people educate themselves through the thoughts of leader Apo. As the Yazidi community, we will do our best to ensure the physical freedom of leader Apo. Everyone should rise up for the freedom of leader Apo.”
‘Rise up with the thoughts and philosophy of leader Apo’
The thoughts and philosophy of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan are important for the oppressed, Emşê Korkorkî indicated. “We call on the oppressed people to rise up with the thoughts and philosophy of leader Apo because his thoughts and philosophy are valuable. Do not allow the enemy to implement the agreement signed on October 9. Now, the Yazidi community embraces his thoughts and philosophy and knows who their enemy is. The Yazidi people will never allow another genocide to be committed against them. I call on the oppressed people once again to embrace the thoughts and philosophy of leader Apo and struggle for the physical freedom of leader Apo.”
