Syrian Women's Council discusses Syria’s constitutional declaration

Aleppo- The Syrian Women’s Council held a meeting in the city of Aleppo on Wednesday to discuss the constitutional declaration approved by the interim government in Syria and its flaws.

At the meeting, the participants emphasized the importance of rebuilding a strong country through a constitution that represents all identities in Syria. They demanded women be participating in drafting Syria’s new constitution.

The meeting ended with a set of recommendations that emphasized the need for a new constitution drafted by Syrians to guarantee the rights of all ethnic and religious groups, especially women’s rights, in Syria. They also demanded amendments of some laws to promote women’s participation in politics and decision-making positions and gender equality.
