Star Congress Execution Policy in Iran Reveas the System’s Incapacity

The Star Congress in Rojava condemned the escalation of executions in Iran, considering that it reflects the system’s incapacity in the face of rising popular demands for freedom and justice.

News Center_Amid the escalation of executions in Iran, the Star Congress condemned the policy of execution and repression against prisoners and activists, considering it a reflection of the system’s weakness and incapacity, and called on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action.

The Star Congress in Rojava issued a written statement today, Monday, August 31, condemning executions in Iranian prisons and eastern Kurdistan, stating that this policy against activists in the country is evidence of "the system's weakness and incapacity."

The statement said that the execution policy in Iran is increasing day by day, noting that in recent days many prisoners have been executed in various prisons. According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, seven prisoners were executed in prisons in Khorramabad, Sari, Rasht, Yazd, and Isfahan between August 24 and 26.

The statement focused specifically on the case of young woman Arzo Rostad, 23, considering her execution a painful example of Iran's execution policy: "Arzo Rostad was forced into marriage at the age of nineteen, before being later tried on charges of killing her husband and sentenced to death under the qisas (retaliation) punishment."

The statement noted that Arzo Rostad was executed on August 24 in the central prison of Isfahan. According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, Iranian authorities did not announce the news of her execution to the public.

The Star Congress, through its statement, expressed solidarity with Arzo Rostad's family and all women who have been executed, and reaffirmed its support for women, youth, and the various peoples of Iran who continue their struggle for freedom, affirming that the continuation of executions and repression will not be able to extinguish peoples' demands for freedom and justice.

Execution as a Tool of Intimidation and Silencing Opposition

The statement noted that the Iranian system, instead of responding to the growing anger within society and the demands for freedom, uses execution as a tool of intimidation and silencing opposition: "The execution of people specifically linked to the January 2026 protests shows that this policy is also being used to suppress social and political opposition. The execution of Majid Adineh on August 23 is one of the latest examples of this policy. The Human Rights Organization in Iran announced that Majid Adineh was executed in connection with the January protests."

Resistance of Iran's Peoples Continues

It stated that the continuation of executions reveals the Iranian system's weakness and incapacity, widening the gap between the people and the authorities. "The more repression increases, the more anger replaces fear, and anger in turn turns into resistance."

The statement affirmed that the resistance of Iran's peoples has not stopped, noting that women, youth, workers, students, and various peoples and communities in the country continue to hold on to their demands for freedom and justice, despite ongoing repression.

The statement also set out a number of demands, foremost among them an immediate halt to executions, an end to pressures and repression against political prisoners, respect for the will of women and peoples for freedom, as well as recognition of the right of Iran's peoples to live within a democratic and free system.
