Qorveh- A spring fair has been held in Qorveh, a city in Kurdistan Province of Iran, from March 19 to the first day of April. A number of women from many cities such as Kermanshah, Hamedan, Divandarreh and Bijar participated in the fair to display their cities' food products.
Spring fairs are annually held in many cities from March to April with the purpose of promoting food products from different cities and providing food products at a more affordable price. Both exhibitors and people benefit from these fairs
Sameer, an exhibitor from the town of Serishabad, also participated in the fair to display and market her food products. “The exhibition has 70 booths. Many products such as nuts, dried fruits and vegetables and clothes are displayed at the fair. Last year, people bought more products; however, people buy less this year due to deteriorating economic conditions. Unfortunately, most people visiting the booths just ask the prices and then go.”
Nastern Mohammadi participated in the fair from Qorveh. “We display our textile products at the fair. I am happy to see many women participating in the fair. Most women are entrepreneurs trying to make a living for themselves.”
The fair in Qorveh is held every day, 10 days before the Eid Ramadan, Roya Abbasi told us. “People visit the fair to buy what they need for Ramadan. The fair has 70 booths displaying many food products such as desserts, nuts, etc. Due to a decrease in purchasing power, people only just ask the prices of products.”
