Sit-in protest for justice continues on its 739th day
“When the government changes after the elections, they will be remembered for the pain and corruption that they have caused,” said the Şenyaşar family on the 739th day of their sit-in protest demanding justice.
Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in Pirsûs (Turkish: Suruç) district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar has entered its 739th day today.
Today, Ferit Şenyaşar made a speech in front of the courthouse, emphasizing that the judiciary has lost its independence in the murder case of their family members. Noting that his mother and he have been holding a sit-in protest in front of the courthouse for more than two years, he said, “When the government changes after the elections, they will be remembered for the pain and corruption that they have caused. People across Türkiye suffer from unlawfulness.”
‘We condemn this unlawfulness’
Reacting to the home raids in Pirsûs and the arrest of 23 people in the district, Ferit Şenyaşar said, “We condemn this unlawfulness. Elections will be held in our country soon. When the government changes after the elections, the prosecutors who cause this unlawful decision will also be held accountable before the independent judiciary.”
